To achieve a CHC30113 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, a total of 18 units of competency must be completed 15 core units, plus 3 elective units.

There are no entry requirements for this qualification. It is preferred that the students have obtained a minimum of a School Certificate or equivalent. Students are required to pass a Working with Children/Vulnerable People Check (including Police Clearance) in the state or territory that they are working in prior to commencing work placement.

To be assessed as competent in this qualification, students are required to undertake 160 hours of supervised work placement in a regulated child care service which caters for children aged between 0-6. A minimum of 120 hours of this work placement will need to be completed specifically with babies 0-2 of age. In all work placement settings, students must have a minimum Diploma trained staff member supervising them throughout the work placement hours.

This qualification can be funded to eligible students through ACT Skilled Capital, a subsidised training program offered by the ACT Government.
